Warsaw Receives Donation For Trailhead Improvement
WARSAW — Lutheran Health Network KCH recently donated $5,000 to the City of Warsaw Stormwater Utility. The donation will help redevelop the trail area along Ring Road located behind the hospital which abuts the Beyer Trail wetlands. The landscape will be enhanced by adding an educational amphitheater as well as a new savanna green space. From the small amphitheater to the savanna, the project will mitigate surface runoff and buffer the wetland from pollutants.
Ryan Workman, stormwater coordinator for the city stated, “Improving the water quality for the public of the City of Warsaw is the primary objective for the Stormwater Utility. If projects that can incorporate education, enhance quality of life and richen public spaces are made aware, you can be assured that the Stormwater Utility will pursue it. The Beyer Farm Trail Stormwater Project will be a launch to future stormwater projects which focus on these qualities and are accessible to the public.”
“We are pleased to partner with the city on this meaningful project that enhances the entry point to the Beyer Trail while addressing storm water runoff. A healthier community is ensured when the area waterways are clean,” said Kirk Ray, CEO of Kosciusko Community Hospital.
The land improvement project came about while trying to creatively address the recent water quality and erosion issues along the Beyer Farm Trail. The project is set to start this fall.
