Ilah Kay Mort
Ilah Kay Mort, 76, formerly of Columbia City, died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 at Hamilton Place, Fort Wayne.
She was born Nov. 8, 1940 in North Webster, a daughter of Dale and Dorothy (Walls) Roberts. She completed her education at Leesburg High School.
In 1962 she married Darrell D. Mort. They made their home in Churubusco, Shriner Lake, Blue Lake, Columbia City and Albion before moving to Fort Wayne in 2016.
Ilah worked as a custodian for Churubusco Schools for a number of years and also worked at Whitley County Memorial Hospital.
She attended Grace Christian Church in Albion.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 54 years, Darrell; three children, Dennis (Jill) Mort of Columbia City, Beth (Mark) Didier of fort Wayne and Crystal (Mark) Herendeen of Albion; 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and a brother, Bill (Dianne) Roberts of Atlanta IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Susan Kay Grindle Lipscomb; and a sister, Linda Ryman.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday. Visitation also Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
