Grace Village Welcomes New Director Of Nursing
WINONA LAKE — Grace Village Retirement Community is pleased to announce its new director of nursing, Cassie Wiggs.
Wiggs diligently worked at Grace Village for seven years prior to her advancement to her new position as director of nursing. Her journey at Grace Village began in 2010 when she was hired as the assistant director of nursing. In addition to serving our residents as an LPN, she assisted with implementing new policies that increase the quality of care to our dear healthcare residents. She is an excellent team player and helps in every area that needs improvement. A portion of her teamwork includes working with our pharmacy consultant and medical doctors regarding our residents’ medication use. The skills and experience that she gained from her seven years of work as the assistant director of nursing primed her for advancement within Grace Village. Along with working full-time in this role, she attended nursing school to advance her education.
In December of 2016 after hours of class time and studying, Wiggs graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then successfully passed her state boards to earn her license as an RN.
Cassie began a new segment of her Grace Village journey effective July 10. As the director of nursing, she will provide leadership, training and discipline to the team members that make up the entire nursing department. Her responsibilities are immense, but a few key elements of her position include: to ensure that policies and procedures comply with state and federal regulations and to ensure that staff are adhering to those policies and procedures; to oversee departmental concerns of safety and quality; to act as an ambassador for the nursing department to other departments within the organization and to residents and/or their representatives.
Grace Village is pleased to have Wiggs as such a valuable asset to the ministry.
