Build A Better World Beautifies Pierceton
PIERCETON — Residents around Pierceton may have noticed some things looking fresh recently. Kids and teens with the Pierceton Library’s summer programs have painted fire hydrants, cleaned fire trucks and planted plants through the summer.
The theme for this year’s summer program was “Build a Better World.” While kids were earning reading rewards for their summer reading, they were also doing projects around the community.
There are two programs offered, a pre-k through sixth grade group as well as a “teen challenge” group.
“Our teens stepped right up and were super helpful with the younger group and we are very proud of them!” said Tracy Rhodes who is a Friends of the Library member.
The final project was unfortunately rained out, but Rhodes is hopeful that the teens will be able to do it this coming week. Anticipate the street in front of the library being blocked off as the teens will be painting the road with their artwork. As long as all goes as planned, the colorful additions will be added just in time for Pierceton Days, Aug. 4-5.
