Milford Public Library News And Events
MILFORD — The following events will take place at the Milford Public Library:
VIEW THE SOLAR ECLIPSE SAFELY WITH FREE SAFETY ECLIPSE GLASSES FROM MILFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY
Experience the eclipse of the sun on Aug. 21, but do so safely, with a pair of eclipse glasses from the Milford Public Library. This total eclipse will be visible in the continental United States for the first time in almost forty years. A total eclipse occurs when the sun is completely hidden by the moon. The total eclipse will only be visible on a narrow track across the U.S. from Oregon to South Carolina. Other countries will not be able to see the total eclipse this time.
Indiana will see a partial eclipse, where the moon covers only a portion of the sun. Any eclipse is dangerous to look at without something to protect your eyes from the sun’s damaging rays.
People interested in viewing the eclipse may pick up a pair of safety eclipse glasses at the library beginning Aug. 14. The glasses are free and given away on a first come, first serve basis. It is estimated that we will be able to view the partial eclipse between 12:58 p.m. and 3:49 p.m. on Aug. 21.
If you are interested in more information about the eclipse, please visit the library and ask for the handouts we will have available. If you miss this eclipse, you will have to wait until April 8, 2024, when the total solar eclipse will go through a different set of states. Don’t miss this very exciting event.
