David A. Creighton
David A. Creighton, 74, Warsaw and Green Valley, Ariz., passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, July 22, 2017.
Dave was born Dec. 23, 1942, in Warsaw to Russell and Helen Creighton. He is a graduate of Atwood High School and Indiana Central University (University of Indianapolis). He received his Master’s Degree from Ball State University.
Dave began his more than twenty-year teaching career at Beaver Dam Schools, moved to Tippecanoe Valley Schools, and finally to Warsaw Community School Corporation. Over the years, Dave taught and coached. He started sports programs, drove the team bus when needed, and even taught hundreds of students to drive.
While he was teaching, Dave became a licensed realtor. In 1981 he opened Dave Creighton Realty where he was owner/broker. Dave later became a Realty World owner/broker eventually selling his business to ReMax. Dave served on the Kosciusko County Board of Realtors and was honored to be named Realtor of the Year.
Throughout his life, Dave was active in the Warsaw community. He was in Optimist Club. He brought Junior Achievement and his business expertise to students in Warsaw Schools.
In retirement, Dave enjoyed tennis, golf, pickleball, travel, hiking and, especially, his grandchildren. Dave and Mary Ann (Steenhausen) his wife of thirty-six years lived in Warsaw in the summer and wintered in Green Valley, Arizona.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Ann; his three children: David Creighton, Atlanta, Ga.; Brandon and spouse Rachelle Creighton, Warsaw; Tara Creighton, Winona Lake; and his stepson Richie and spouse Cyndie Robison, La Jolla, Calif. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Shelly, Brady, and Landon Creighton and Harley and Sawyer Robison. Dave leaves his siblings Gale Creighton, Robert Creighton, and Marilyn Creighton Dorsey. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Creighton Snyder and Evelyn Creighton Tinkey.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26 in Atwood Otterbien Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Lawson officiating. A private interment service in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw will follow.
