North Webster Public Library News And Events
NORTH WEBSTER — The kids have worked hard all summer reading and earning prizes at North Webster Community Public Library. Now it’s time to celebrate at the Summer Reading Grand Finale Picnic 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2. All Summer Reading participants and their families are invited to a free hotdog picnic held in the North Webster Community Center Gym. The doors open at 5 p.m. for a variety of games and fun with supper served at 6 p.m. followed by the awarding of prizes. Participants who read at least five hours over the summer get a free souvenir cup, plus door prizes for everyone. The library will close early at 5 p.m. that day, so the staff can celebrate with the kids.
Just as picnics are a part of summer, so is home canning. Learn the basics of home canning from Stuart Smith when he presents his Canning Class 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. An avid home canner, Smith will go over the basics of home canning including equipment needed, techniques and other tips for canning fruits, vegetables, soups and meats. The class is free and open to everyone.
Registrations are currently being accepted for the library’s next Coffee and Canvas 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12. Sign up and learn how to paint a flower still life. The cost is $18 and includes 11×14 canvas, painting supplies, coffee and cookies. Advance registration and pre-payment is needed by Aug. 10 at the Circulation Desk.
