Kosciusko County’s Taco Wars Finalists
KOSCIUSKO — Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to announce the Top 10 finalists in the voting stage for Indiana’s Cool North Taco Wars.
Twenty-six restaurants serving up delicious tacos were nominated in the Kosciusko County round which ended Wednesday. A total of 187 nominations were received. The top ten were contacted to confirm the option to commitment. The top 10 that agreed to participate will square off against one another in a voting contest to decide who has the best Taco in our county. The voting is underway now at VisitKosciuskoCounty.org. Voters are encouraged to vote once a day for their favorite until the county competition phase ends on July 31.
The ten participants that will be representing the Best of Kosciusko County are:
- Taqueria El Comal, Warsaw
- Taco Jalisco Food Truck, Warsaw
- Mi Lindo Acapulco Mexican Restaurant, Warsaw
- Patino’s Mexican Food, North Webster
- El Arriero Mexican Bar & Grill, Warsaw
- Cardoso Café, Warsaw
- El Cielo Mexican Grill & Bar, Warsaw
- Mad Anthony Brewing Company, Warsaw
- El Molcajete, Leesburg
- LaTroje, Warsaw
Everyone who votes will be entered in a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to the Kosciusko winning restaurant at the end of the county competition. It was earlier stated the drawing would be for $25, but due to popularity of local Taco Wars the CVB has increased the gift certificate amount. Notification will be by email.
The winner of the Kosciusko County 2017 Taco Wars will be announced on July 31. The county winner will then move on to the regional level, to go head-to-head against the winning restaurants from the other six counties that make up Indiana’s Cool North. These counties are also currently in the county voting phase. These counties are Marshall, Lagrange, Elkhart, St. Joe, Porter and LaPorte. Regional competition will begin Aug. 4.
The Indiana’s Cool North Taco Wars is a follow up from previous competitions such as Burger Wars and Pizza Wars contests. After 200,000 votes cast in previous years, The View Tavern of South Bend was crowned regional Best Burger Wars Champion and The Wooden Peel of Bremen was crowned regional Best Pizza Wars Champion.
“I was thrilled at the number of dining establishments nominated. Kosciusko County is known for delicious dining options and Taco Wars is yet another way to showcase our area and give visitors an interesting way to engage and participate along with county residents. I have already planned my taco stops in the next two weeks to personally experience the Top 10. That is the fun in it all,” said Jill Boggs, Executive Director of the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
