Marvin L. ‘Bubba’ Hartley
Marvin L. “Bubba” Hartley, 81, Pierceton, passed away at 7:40 a.m., Tuesday July 18, 2017, in his residence. He was born on Jan. 23, 1936 to Wallace and Margaret (Henry) Hartley in Portland, Indiana.
Marvin joined the United States Army from 1954 to 1958. He was an Ammunition Supply Specialist.
On Sept. 5, 1970 he married Thelma Farmer in Middletown, Indiana.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton and the American Legion Post 253, North Webster.
He has been in Kosciusko County since 1985.
He was a commercial truck driver for many years. He retired in 1994.
Marvin enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren, woodworking, fishing, airplanes, and the lake.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Hartley, Pierceton; his children, James (Candy) Hartley, Muncie, Kenny (Missy) Farmer, Syracuse, Ricky Bowen, Pierceton, Tammy Thomas (Fiancé Darrell Meyerink), Pierceton, Chad Hartley, Ossian and David (Holli) Hartley, Warsaw; a sister, Phyllis (Don) Meyers, Muncie; 13 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, a brother and a son Robert Hartley.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 22 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. Then a procession from the funeral chapel to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton for a Mass of Christian Service starting at 1 p.m. Monsignor Bernard Galic will officiate.
There will be Military Honors by the American Legion Post 253 and the Military Honor Guard immediately following the Mass.
Interment will be at a later date.
