WINONA LAKE — Peter Christos has officially resigned from his position on the Winona Lake Town Council. The letter of resignation was dated July 10, one day prior to being convicted of two misdemeanors.
Michael Ragen, Chairman of the Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee, announced a caucus will take place to fill the vacancy at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8 in the Winona Lake Town Hall Chambers.
Eligible members of the caucus, by statutory definition, are the Republican Precinct Committeemen of Wayne 1, 3, 4, and 10 in Kosciusko County, who has served continuously, from 30 days before the date of the commencement of the caucus.
The Precinct Committeeman’s designation must be filed with the Chairman at 1458 East CR 75N, Warsaw 46582, at least 72 hours prior to the caucus in order to have a Precinct Committeeman vote as the Precinct Committeeman’s proxy. A proxy may not be revoked after it is filed.
Members of the caucus, candidates, designated caucus staff, Republican Party Officials, duly appointed watchers and members of the news media shall be eligible to attend the caucus.
A Member of the Winona Lake Town Council, District One shall be elected by secret ballot of the majority of members of the voting caucus to fill the vacancy in the office.
