Claude Junior ‘CJ’ Dotson
Claude Junior “CJ” Dotson, 87, Wabash, died at 6:25 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born March 5, 1930 in St. Charles, Virginia to Claude and Lela (Warwick) Dotson.
CJ married Gertrude “Gertie” Delois Mullens in Welch, West Virginia on Dec. 9, 1953; she died Dec. 4, 2008. He worked as a coal miner prior to coming to Indiana. Once here, he worked as a foreman at United Technologies of North Manchester until his retirement in 1988. He attended Christian Heritage Church. He loved his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. His passion was music. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing. He also enjoyed watching old westerns and going to Walmart.
He is survived by his two children: Rick (Ruby) Dotson, Lowell; Tammy (Rick) Slone, Wabash; five grandchildren: Rickey (Britney) Slone, Jr., Amy Slone and Travis Slone, all of Wabash, Rickey (Anna) Dotson, Jr. and Brianne (Kip) Hamm, both of Lowell; seven great-grandchildren: Jaymes Slone, Kayden Kelly, Skyler Slone, and Serenity McDermit, all of Wabash, and Caleb Hamm, Seth Hamm, and Maya Dotson, all of Lowell; his three sisters, Shirley Franklin of Logansport, Indiana, Margie (Johnny) Profitt of Blountsville, Tennessee, and Loretta Isom of Florida. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Carla Dotson, two brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 18, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
