Three Men Arrested For Dealing, Possession
WINONA LAKE — Two local teens and one male from Michigan were recently arrested after being found with heroin and marijuana. Officers also discovered evidence of dealing.
Brian Dashaun Adkins, 18, Winona Lake; Marco A. Cleto, 19, Warsaw; and Matthew Kenneth Hayes, 22, Detroit, Mich.; are all facing multiple charges. The charges include dealing in a narcotic drug, a level 5 felony; possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony; dealing in marijuana, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
On July 11, an officer with the Winona Lake Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving with a headlight not working. The officer identified the driver as Cleto, the front seat passenger as Hayes and the rear seat passenger as Adkins.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, while the officer was speaking with the men, he observed Hayes throw something out the window. The officer obtained the items and discovered three plastic bags of heroin. The officer could also smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.
A search was then conducted on the vehicle. In the glove compartment, officers found four plastic bags of marijuana. Under the driver’s seat, officers found a box that contained 33 empty plastic bags. In the trunk of the vehicle, officers located two plastic bags and scales. And in a drink cup, officers located a plastic bag of 4.6 grams of marijuana floating on top of the drink. A total of $316 cash was also located.
All three men admitted to smoking marijuana. They were all booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on July 11.
