Richard Eric Rohrbach
Richard Eric “Rick” Rohrbach, 56, of Columbia City, died at 4:04 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Joe Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born May 30, 1961 in Indianapolis, Ind. a son of James W. and Connie (Grable) Rohrbach. He grew up in Columbia City graduating from Columbia City Joint High School in 1980. He attended University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne.
Following his graduation from high school he lived in Fort Wayne later moving to Houston, TX for 2 years then returning to Columbia City. For the past 20 years he lived in Fort Wayne.
A career long insurance agent, he worked for AFLAC for 7 years and then became an independent agent forming his own insurance agency – Beneficial Resources.
He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He had a passion for classic rock and classic movies including old westerns. He was always up for a game of pool or cards. He was a wheeler/dealer on Craigslist buying and selling. Many of his treasured finds were given as gifts to family and friends. A talented artist, he painted landscapes and portraits and has to his credit the bald eagle portrait adorning the wall in the Columbia City High School gymnasium.
He leaves behind a son, Daniel J. Rohrbach, Fort Wayne, step-children, Mariah D, Silket and Dave L. Ealy, III, both of Fort Wayne; his mother, Connie Rohrbach, Columbia City; brother, Kurt (Margaret) Rohrbach, Indianapolis and sister, Carrie (Brian) Waterson, Zionsville.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Rohrbach.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery. The visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
