Tritch Announces Run For Congress, Visits Kosciusko
WARSAW — Fort Wayne native Courtney Tritch announced her candidacy for Indiana’s Third Congressional District at Foster Park, Fort Wayne, Thursday, July 6. Running on the Democrat ticket, she hopes to garner enough votes in the May 2018 primary to challenge incumbent Rep. Jim Banks.
Tritch had initially planned to speak on the steps of the Kosciusko County courthouse Friday afternoon to share her vision for northeast Indiana, but was unfortunately rained out. Instead, Tritch met with those wanting to speak with her at Latte Lounge, Buffalo Street, Warsaw.
Tritch recently started Courtney Tritch Consulting after years of working with the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership as the vice president of marketing. During her work for the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, Tritch proudly took part in a number of bipartisan initiatives, solidifying her principle of working together to make the community a better place.
Under Pence’s administration, Tritch helped lead the Regional Cities Initiative Team that won $42 million in state funding to attract young people to northeast Indiana. Warsaw’s North Buffalo Street $3.5 million redevelopment project is a part of that initiative.
“I’ve been working hard to move northeast Indiana forward, but the success we’ve seen here in the region can only continue if we are willing to work across party lines and build a shared vision for our future,” said Tritch.
Tritch’s vision looks to cross party lines, moving forward in bipartisan initiatives that provide the best outcomes for everyone. As our federal government decides on healthcare, education, clean energy and jobs, Tritch wants to develop plans that encourage cooperation and brings money back into the people’s’ pockets.
“Trickle down economics has been shown not to work,” Tritch stated. Her goal is to bring that money back to the working class.
“You have to start with the end goal in mind and then make decisions that make sense,” Tritch said. “We’re going to really focus on the people of northeast Indiana and what they need. They need healthcare, they need good jobs. Working in economic development, I know that everything goes back to economic development.”
Over the next several months Tritch will be visiting her district’s counties, wanting to hear her constituents concerns and ideas on how to keep northeast Indiana moving forward. She stated, “If we have different ideas, let’s sit down and talk about it.”
