Wilma Mae Holmes
Wilma Mae Holmes, 93, Nappanee and formerly of Wakarusa, passed away at 6:56 a.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Elkhart General Hospital, where she had been admitted since Wednesday.
Wilma was born Aug. 9, 1923 in Nappanee to Harry and Velvia (Babb) Nettrour. She was a 1942 graduate of Nappanee High School.
Wilma worked at CTS Corp for 36 years, she retired in 1986. During retirement she traveled with RV Gypsy Rovers Club. She enjoyed all of her friends at NorthWood Circle and she loved reading. On February 9, 1946, she married Harold “Barney” Holmes. He preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2006.
She was a member of the Wakarusa Church of the Brethren.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Lana (Thomas) Kern, Elkhart; son, Rex (Lauri) Holmes, Cascade, Colo.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dominic) DiSanto, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Matthew (Anita) Kern, Noblesville, Aaron (Brooke) Holmes, Auckland, New Zealand, Ryan (Ashley) Holmes, Glen Allen, Va.; Lara (Eric) Davis, Fort Collins, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Mia and Nicholas DiSanto, Jacob and Addison Kern, Kelyn and Rowan Holmes, Tyler Holmes, Jax and Austen Davis; and a sister, Nora Speicher, Milford. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Rose, Nellie Estep, Pauline Hand, Mary Myers; and brothers, Alfred Nettrour, Glen Nettrour.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or services and cremation will take place. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Harold “Barney” Holmes in Olive Cemetery at a later date.
