Robert Laudeman
Retired Businessman Robert Laudeman, a long time resident of Syracuse, died at the Grandview Care Center in Sun City West, Ariz. on June 9, 2017.
Robert was born Dec. 17, 1919 in his family home near Bremen. He attended German Township Consolidated #1 and graduated from Bourbon High School. In 1943 Robert graduated from Indiana University (Bloomington). Robert managed grain elevators in Lynn; St. Joseph, Mo.; Warsaw and Wabash. He owned and operated Laudeman Elevator in Urbana for many years until his retirement.
In May, 1945 he married June Coy of Milford. She preceded him in death. After retiring, June and Robert built a house on Syracuse Lake. They spent winters in Sebring, Fla. Robert was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
Robert is noted for his financial support of the Syracuse Community Center, the Syracuse-Wawasee Park Foundation and the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Max and Janet of Gig Harbor, Wash. and Surprise, Ariz.; granddaughter Victoria and great granddaughter Penelope of Fox Island, Wash.; and brother Glenn of Bremen.
The family is planning a private memorial service.
