New Vehicle In Solid Waste Board’s 2018 Budget
WARSAW — Yesterday’s monthly Kosciusko Solid Waste Board meeting, June 13, was the first for new director Tom Ganser.
The meeting was spent with Ganser walking through updates, asking questions and ultimately getting settled in as director. In the three weeks since Ganser has taken the position, he’s worked to organize the facility, get position descriptions evaluated and updated and work on the 2018 budget.
Part of 2018’s budget includes looking into getting the Depot a new vehicle. This process was started earlier this year when former director Shelly Heckert asked the board for the consideration. Ganser agreed that a new vehicle is necessary, and proposed the current vehicle be kept for educator Sarah Baier to use for her lesson plans as she often needs to transport large items. A capital outlay of $35,000 is in the budget for the consideration of a new vehicle.
Ganser’s started during a very busy time for the Depot, as its free CRT television collection is still going on through the end of June. By the end of the month, it is predicted the Depot will surpass the volume of electronics shipped in all of 2016.
Ganser is working on obtaining his 24-hour hazwoper training.
