Purchases And Repairs Approved At Leesburg Town Council Meeting
LEESBURG — At the Leesburg town council meeting Monday, June 12, a decision was made to purchase a BC700XL wood/brush chipper from Vermeer Midwest, Fort Wayne, at the quoted price of $15,795. Council members discussed the safety features of the chipper and the safest methods for operation.
A motion was made and approved to have the town street sweeper repaired by J & L Agri-Service LLC, Leesburg, for the quoted price of $1,555.00.
Council members also approved a motion to purchase and install a catch basin to help with the drainage issue on Hickory Street.
Derek Tenney of Tenney & Sons Inc., Warsaw, informed council members that he is keeping an eye on the Leesburg School septic situation. According to Tenney, the individual he had been communicating with at the Warsaw School Maintenance Department is no longer employed with the school. Tenney advised he will make some inquiries to find out who he needs to communicate with from this point forward.
New Leesburg Street Superintendent Craig Charlton reported that all curbs in town have been treated with vegetation inhibitor. Charlton also reported that vehicles in violation of town ordinances have been marked with tags and that he has attempted to make contact with the owners of the vehicles in order to explain to them exactly how they are in violation.

- The next regular meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 10.
- Leesburg clean-up days are scheduled for Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18.
- New speed limit signs will be purchased and installed to reflect the revised speed limit of 25 mph on all streets in town.
- No burning in the town of Leesburg.
- No parking on any street in Leesburg between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.
- Financial reports and minutes for the April and May meetings were approved.
