Mary Lou Hudson Goans
Mary Lou Hudson Goans, 72, Claypool, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family at 9:20 p.m., Sunday, June 11, 2017.
She was born Aug. 17, 1944 in Madison to Ellis Fay and Rhoda Rhumenta (Davis) Hudson. Mary Lou was a graduate of Portland High School and received her Cosmetology License and then became a Master Cosmetologist and Beauty Culturist and had her own beauty salon for many years. She went to IUSB and got an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences in Accounting. She worked at United Technologies Automotive. She also attended Ivy Tech in Warsaw where she earned certificates in Statistical Process Control and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
She ended her working career as a Cost Analysis Accountant at Lear Corporation.
On Aug. 11, 1995 she married Greg Goans. He survives.
She loved traveling and going on adventures with her friends. She enjoyed genealogy, painting, sewing, crocheting, and being with family.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Greg, Claypool; children, Gary D. (Penny) Loy, Milford; Brian (Nikki) Loy, Claypool; grandchildren, Leigh Anne (David) Ernst, Michael (Jessica) Loy, Mekayla Loy, Whitney Sleeth, Gustavo Rodriguez, Taylor Sleeth, Allison Loy, Laci Loy; great-grandchildren, Santiago Rodriguez, Ilyza Loy, Kathryn Ernst, Joseph Ernst; brother, Ellis Fay, Jr. (Sue) Hudson; sisters, Linda (Hudson) Barger, and Rebecca “Becky” Hudson (David) Rains, both of Portland; and her special friends, aptly named her “co-adventurers,” Linda Kirkpatrick and Janet Beals McPheeters.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alta Rosalee Hudson.
Family and friends may call from 2-7 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2017 and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be at 12 p.m., Friday, June 16 all at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Pastor Glen Hall, of Harvest Community Church in Pierceton, will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to National Breast Cancer Foundation or Kosciusko County Animal Shelter.
