Former ISP District Commander Is Fifth Candidate For Sheriff’s Position
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Louis W. (Bill) Brown, Pierceton, has announced he has filed to seek the nomination for Kosciusko County Sheriff June 21.
“With the recent events that have occurred with the sheriff’s department it is time to bring in new proven leadership, integrity and professionalism to the department and begin moving forward. I believe that with the years of leadership and supervision experience, I am the candidate to accomplish this,” said Brown.
Brown was born and raised in Warsaw and graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1975 and attended Indiana University in South Bend receiving a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice. He started his law enforcement career in 1979 with the Indiana State Police and retired in December 2012 serving 33 years. Upon retiring he began working for the Indiana State Department of Toxicology as an inspector.
During his career with the Indiana State Police he held the rank of corporal and was the sergeant for Kosciusko County for 10 years and lieutenant, district commander of the Lowell Post. Throughout his law enforcement career he was involved in many law enforcement events and command training most notably 10 week courses at Northwestern University Police, Staff and Command School and the FBI National Academy.
Brown lives in Pierceton with his wife Vicki; they have four children and eight grandchildren. He is a second generation law enforcement officer, his father Eugene C. Brown retired from the Warsaw Police Department and Kosciusko County Probation. He has two brothers, one works for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the second is retired from the Goshen Police Department plus a sister who works at Zimmer-Biomet.
