North Webster Public Library News And Events
NORTH WEBSTER — Sample German food, watch traditional German dancing, explore German inventions, learn about German history and experience a Taste of Germany 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at North Webster Community Center. This family-friendly, interactive event is sponsored by Friends of the North Webster Library. Tickets will be available for a small cost at the door or in advance at the library or from any Friends of the Library member. Come and enjoy a fun and educational Taste of Germany.
More fun is planned when adults gather 5:30 p.m. for Game Night, Tuesday, June 13, to play group party games. Join in for a free evening of friendly competition and loads of laughs.
Openings are still available for the Craft-A-Card Workshop 10 a.m. Thursday, June 15, taught by expert card-maker Wrenay Kann. The cost of the workshop includes kits for making three beautiful summer cards. Registrations along with payment are being accepted at the Circulation Desk.
The Youth Services Department is jammed packed with activities next week, starting with Family Story Time 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13 followed by ever-popular Family Bingo 10:30, Wednesday, June 14. With lots of chances to win, everyone goes home with prizes. Although all children are welcome, those who have signed up for Summer Reading Program should bring their Reading Passports to get stamped for extra reading credit.
Competitive games and snacks are in store for teens 3 p.m. Thursday, June 15. Youth going into sixth grade through high school are invited for a fun time of games, snacks and friends at the library. The next day, Friday, June 16, it’s Make It/Take It Craft Day for all ages. Kids can stop by the library anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to do a fun craft or take it home to complete.
Friday is also Paws-To-Read appointments when Echo the therapy dog will be at the library 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to meet with children who have signed up for a 15-minute reading session with her. Echo loves listening to stories while children practice their oral reading skills. The reading sessions are by appointment only. Stop by the Youth Services Desk or call (574) 834-7122 ext. 202 to schedule a reading appointment with Echo.
The Summer Reading Program is in full swing with fun activities each week. Although all children are invited to the free Wednesday events, those who are signed up for the Summer Reading Program get extra credit toward prizes by attending. The Summer Reading Program runs until July 29 and children can sign up any time until then, but the sooner they sign up the more opportunity they have to earn prizes.
