Gast And Harting Honored At First Friday Parade
WARSAW — World War II veteran Bob Gast, 95, Warsaw, was honored in a Mizpah Parade during First Friday, June 2. The parade has been hosted by the local Shrine Club for the last several years.
Gast, a longtime Mason and Shriner, was presented with several medals in October 2016, including the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, World War II Victory Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
Fort Wayne Mizpah Shrine potentate Hal Harting was also honored in the parade.
Musical entertainment was provided by Winona Lake resident David Haney, who played New Age background music on his full-size Yamaha keyboard. Haney, who has released a CD, “Flight,” has performed at previous First Friday events as well as other Warsaw locations, such as Redwood Firewood Grill and Owens Supermarket.
First Friday also featured motorcycles and motorcycle groups, including American Bikers Aimed Toward Education, Christian Motorcycle Association and the Patriot Riders.
