WACF Lake Talk and Eats begins Saturday
SYRACUSE — It’s time for the first Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation Lake Talk & Eats event of the 2017 season at the WACF Levinson-LaBrosse Lakes and Wetlands Educational Center, 11586 N. SR 13, just south of Syracuse.
A special double-header is planned for Saturday, June 3, with a native plant sale and a Department of Natural Resources introduction to boating safety presentation. This is another completely free WACF Education event and everyone is welcome.
At 9 a.m. Martha Ferguson, Riverview Nursery, will give a short presentation explaining the advantages of native plants in the WACF Education Center Ruddell Pavilion. Native plants will be available to purchase from Clayton’s Garden Center, Myers Landscape Nursery and Riverview Nursery. In addition, the Syracuse-Wawasee Garden Club will be helping attendees make peat pots.
The DNR will be presenting a 30-minute safe boating overview at 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. These presentations are for boaters of all ages and is a perfect time to remind younger boaters of the importance of safety in the water.
The presentations will be held in the WACF Education Center building and a light breakfast will be served.
