Man Sentenced For Beating Disabled Wife
WARSAW — Michael K. Lindsey, 60, 2441 W. CR 250S, Warsaw, was sentenced on charges of domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement a level 5 felony battery against a disabled person and a class A misdemeanor battery charge were dismissed.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, on July 5, 2016, an officer from the Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department met with Lindsey’s wife. She told the officer Lindsey had become angry with her and began striking her with his closed fists multiple times. When he heard her calling 911 he left the residence.
On July 8, an advocate with Kosciusko County Victim’s Assistance met with Lindsey’s wife and took photographs of her injuries. Lindsey’s wife had bruising on the right side of her face, bruising on both eyes, nose and neck, right forearm, upper arm, chest and a laceration above her left eye that required stitches to close. Her eye was extremely red and bloodshot. Lindsey’s wife told the woman the injuries were a result of her husband’s striking her multiple times with his fists.
“I have no excuse for myself,” said Lindsey to Judge David Cates in Superior Court 1 June 1. “I was hurt and lost my temper. An apology isn’t worth much in a case like this, but I do apologize.”
Judge Cates acknowledged that after a history of violence, and no more recent charges, Lindsey has sought help for anger management.
Lindsey was sentenced to two years at the Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department and ordered to continue anger management and substance abuse treatment at McArthur Counseling Center, Warsaw.
Should Lindsey qualify, he may serve his sentence at community corrections.
