WARSAW — On Saturday June 3, the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will be kicking off the summer season with the free annual Kids Fishing Derby and Casting Contest.The event will take place at the Municipal Park, near Center Lake Park in Warsaw from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

For this event, the ages range from three to 16. Each age will be split up into categories that are fair for this competition (4 and under, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16). In addition to the goodie bags for the first 100 kids, there will be some fantastic prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winners in each age range, along with great prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finisher in the Casting Contest. However, the grandest prize will be given to the individual who reels in the largest fish of the day.

Furthermore, this event is catch and release only and participants must bring their own pole and bait, neither will be provided. So don’t be shy and stay inside, come out and support the local Parks and Recreation Department and kick off summer in fashion while fishing and having a great time socializing and laughing with family and friends.
