Nancy L. Luckenbill — UPDATED
Nancy L. Luckenbill, 83, passed at 8:40 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. Formerly of Akron, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Mary (Royer) Luckenbill.
Nancy was born at home near Akron, Indiana on Sept. 28, 1933.
She graduated from Akron High School in 1951 and her first job was at Kingsbury Ordnance Plant. After that, she worked a number of years as a telephone operator and bookkeeper for the Rochester telephone company.
When she was younger she was involved in 4-H and had many interests. Nancy was a perfectionist and whatever she set her mind to do, she did very well. Refinishing furniture, gardening, travelling, sewing and helping her parents with farm chores were a few things she really enjoyed doing.
Nancy was kind, helpful and people enjoyed talking with her but, her humor was especially enjoyed by the wonderful staff at Miller’s Merry Manor.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Bruce (Judy) Grindle, Syracuse; brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Adamson, Akron; two nephews: Daniel (Sherri) Grindle, Millersburg; and Jeffery Grindle, Fort Wayne; one niece, Kathy (Norman) Prater, Akron; four great nephews and a great niece.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Mary Luckenbill, brother Gary Luckenbill, and sister Shirley Adamson.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. The service will follow directly after on Saturday. Pastor Kathy Nelson will officiate. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Miller’s Merry Manor or Harbor Light Hospice.
