Stanley H. Duggins
Stanley H. Duggins, 84, of South Whitley, died at 1:02 a.m. Saturday, May 27 at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
He was born Aug. 24, 1932 in Whitley County, a son of Hobart and Leota Electa (Dickerhoff) Duggins. He graduated from Larwill High School and attended Indiana – Purdue University.
On Aug. 28, 1955 he married Nellie Laura Rowland. They made their first home at Big Lake until August 1959 when they moved to their home near South Whitley. Mrs. Duggins died Nov. 5, 2008.
He served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge on Feb. 1, 1961.
On May 22, 2010 he married Marilyn R. (Craig) Easterday.
A small business operator, he worked at Chamberlin Products in South Whitley; owned the Standard Station and later Mobil Station, both in Columbia City; worked at Memcor and Utah American/Pyle Industries, both in Huntington; and from 1976 until his retirement in 1996 owned the NAPA store in South Whitley.
He was a member of American Legion Post #98 and South Whitley Economic Development Board.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Marilyn; two children, Lynn (Renee) Duggins South Whitley and Tina (John) Foust of Peru; five step sons, Mike (Norma) Easterday of Fort Wayne, Larry Easterday of Fort Wayne, Don (Patti) Easterday of Largo FL, Robert Easterday of South Whitley and Tim (Shu) Easterday of Columbus OH; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Remington of Florida.
Two brothers, Dale Duggins and Steve Duggins, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
