The Kloset Boutique, Warsaw’s Fashion Truck
WARSAW — The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce has welcomed a new business, and rather than a brick-and-mortar storefront this one has wheels.
Kerri Cook, Warsaw, has started The Kloset Boutique, a women’s fashion store in a box truck. Cook started her business online on Facebook back in 2013. In Sept. 2016 she formed a VIP group on Facebook to focus her sales and her sales have only continued to grow.
As her business grew, Cook began looking for opportunities to expand. The idea for a boutique truck was sparked when Cook was researching ideas and discovered their popularity in California.
When asked the pros of a fashion truck, Cook says, “It creates more excitement; it’s more of an impulse buy.” Cook further explains, “My inventory will constantly change, something I have now I may not have next time.”
The truck creates a fun atmosphere and lowers Cook’s overhead costs. Plus, “I’ve always had a hankering to be my own boss,” says Cook.
The truck project began in January, taking only a few months to get up and ready. The truck and its colorful design wrap were all purchased and applied in the Fort Wayne area.
Cook plans to have private shopping parties for ladies groups or lunches that can be booked privately or through a business. Her first venture will be First Friday on June 2.
Most of Cook’s inventory comes from wholesalers in the Los Angeles, Calif., area and run up to a size 3x. She mostly carries tops and dresses but plans to venture into bottoms soon. She also stocks a few children’s clothing.
The Chamber held a ribbon cutting for the 24-foot truck Thursday, May 25.
Be sure to find The Kloset Boutique at First Friday on June 2, and check out its Facebook and website.
