Man Accused Of Killing Toddler Files For New Council
WARSAW — A Warsaw man who is being accused of killing a toddler has filed for a motion to dismiss his current council.
Christopher Grimmett stated in court documents his current council, attorney Jay Rigdon, is “not fighting” for his case. The document goes on to read, “I believe he is not properly defending my rights. If a new council is not appointed, and I have asked several times, it’s grounds for a mistrial.”
The case stems from a missing child call that occurred on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016. Grimmett admitted to officers that while he had been babysitting his girlfriend’s daughter, Adalin, he had beat her to death with his hands. Adalin’s body had been found buried in the backyard of Grimmett’s brother’s residence.
An autopsy was conducted and a preliminary determination of the cause of death was determined to be blunt force traumatic injuries.
A status heading will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 5 to discuss the matter.
