Kathryn Leanna Metzger
Kathryn Leanna Metzger, 97, Akron, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on May 23, 2017 at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
Kathryn was born on Feb. 25, 1920 in Wabash County to Jesse S. and Nona (Mishler) Blickenstaff. She graduated from Chester High School in 1939. Kathryn married Wayne Metzger on Sept. 29, 1939. They were married for 64 years before Wayne passed away on Jan. 28, 2004.
Kathryn was a member of the 39er’s Club. She was a great cook and Grandma to everybody. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles, but quilting was her passion. Kathryn attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester.
She is survived by one daughter Lisbeth Kay (Robert) DuBois, Akron; one son Larry Michael (Kayla) Metzger, Atwood; one sister Esther Miller, Pierceton; five grandchildren Doug Metzger, Mindy Stookey, Renee Martin, Kami Minear, and Scott Jones; and ten great-grandchildren. Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents Jesse S. and Nona Blickenstaff and one sister Dorothy Warner Watson.
Family and friends may call Friday, May 26 from 11 a.m. – noon at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut Street, North Manchester. A memory sharing service will be Friday, May 26 at noon at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut Street, North Manchester. Burial will be at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Silver Lake, Indiana. Freeman will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to the selected charitable organizations.
