Robert R. Keiler
Robert R. “Bob” Kieler, 92, Syracuse, died at 11:23 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born on Oct. 21, 1924 near Arcola to Roy L. and Mary (Leffers) Kieler.
He graduated in 1942 from Arcola High School and was a World War II Army veteran. He retired in 1994 from Rea Magnet Wire in Fort Wayne after 51 years. He moved to Syracuse from Fort Wayne in 1994 and wintered in Cape Canaveral for 18 years. He attended the Syracuse Church of God and was a member of American Legion Post #233 in Syracuse & Eagles Aerie 3760 in Syracuse.
He is survived by his daughter: Gail S. Kieler, Fort Wayne; two sons: Alan (Jennifer Rebisr) Kieler, Lexington, Ky.; Scott Kieler, Fort Wayne; his companion Jean Niles, Syracuse; his step daughter, Christie (Richard) Essig, Syracuse; his step son, Randy Niles, Syracuse; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandhildren.
He was preceded by his parents, two sisters: Mary Alice Mattingly and Margaret Dishong, and three brothers: Clinton, Alfred, and Richard Kieler
Visitation will be from 10–11 a.m. on Thursday, May 18 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stan Owen, of the Syracuse Church of God, officiating. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at the Eel River Cemetery in Churubusco.
