Kosciusko REMC Partners With CoBank To Help Community Members
WARSAW — Kosciusko REMC President and CEO Bruce Goslee presented a check for $10,000 to CCS Executive Director Steve Possell. This donation supports the Winter Heating Assistance Program at Combined Community Services. The funds will be available to members of KREMC throughout the winter months until the funds are exhausted.
When Emily Cowan, manager of marketing and member services at KREMC, heard CoBank’s Sharing Success program was accepting applications for this coming year, she was quick to apply for the benefit of CCS. Sharing Success is an annual $3 million fund designed to match the contributions of CoBank customers to the charitable groups they support throughout rural America. CoBank launched the program in 2012 in conjunction with the International Year of Cooperatives. “This isn’t the first time CoBank matched our donation to CCS. Sharing Success is a great program that has helped hundreds of people. I am delighted that our application has been accepted and we were able to donate once again to CCS”, said Cowan.
As noted on the CCS website, “Financial assistance is offered to those in greatest immediate crisis. In most situations, a disconnect notice or warning is required before assistance can be provided. Guidelines for financial assistance are up to 205 percent of Poverty Guidelines or Hardship Determination, which covers a vast array of crisis situations, from loss of job to an automobile accident that renders people unable to make their usual payments.”
