This year’s theme was “Hoopla.” Teams comprised of two to five students completed challenges against other teams with robots they had designed and built.
The tournament featured two teams from Edgewood Middle School, coached by Abbi Richreek; one team from Lakeview Middle School, coached by Justin Weaver; 19 teams from the WACC, coached by Paul Zakaria, Marc Hufer and Sharon Metz; four teams from Washington, coached by David Burden and Patrick Hazleton; and up to 10 teams from outside school systems.
Teams completed at least six times in qualifying rounds before being ranked.
Students participating in the event had been given six weeks to build their Vex robots for the tournament.
