Whitko Recognizes 2017 Seniors And Award Recipients
SOUTH WHITLEY — Wednesday evening was full of energy as Whitko Band Instructor Joey Shepherd and his students filled the auditorium with the sound of what Shepherd called “a life-long passion,” music. Both students from Whitko Middle School and the High School performed. In some songs, the groups performed together, ushering in the new students to the high school and recognizing the milestone they have achieved. The Whitko Marching Band also performed in preparation for an event they will attend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where they will join other bands from across the state marching the length of the track in its entirety. During their march they will play the tune by Justin Timberlake entitled: “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
Throughout the evening several students were recognized for their outstanding achievements, but the highlight for everyone was easily the Senior Song in which Whitko seniors were showcased both on their specific instrument, and as a bit of fun, they also included the surprise of the kazoo! The tune was called “The Roosters Lay Eggs in Kansas” and the audience responded with laughter and applause.
