Wawasee Baseball: Warriors Stun Pilgrims
SYRACUSE – A seven-run first inning by Wawasee stunned Plymouth in an 8-2 Warriors win Friday afternoon in Northern Lakes Conference baseball.
The wild first inning had Wawasee send 11 batters to the plate and took advantage of five Pilgrim errors. Levi Brown, Rylan Kuhn and Spencer Prescott all had RBI singles in the big inning and Rhett Coblentz brought in another run after being hit by a pitch with the sacks loaded.
Gavin Barker added a sacrifice fly in the fourth for the Warriors, which move to 5-7 in the conference to sit flat-footed with the Pilgrims in the NLC standings.
Kuhn was 2-for-2 with a run scored and stolen base to pace Wawasee.
Cayden Wegener was efficient on the hill for Wawasee, picking up his second win with 4.2 innings of five-hit, two-run ball.
Nate Nixon drove in two runs with a single in the second inning for Plymouth, which sit at 9-11 on the season.
Wawasee (9-12) will visit West Noble on Saturday.
