HNAC Track: Winamac On Top At HNAC Championships
CULVER – Winamac used five individual titles to claim the team title at the Hoosier North Athletic Conference Boys Track Championships.
The Warriors blew away the field with 154.5 points, Pioneer the next closest with 87 points and Knox with 80.5 points. Triton was well off the path, scoring just 19.5 points.
Bill Williamson won both the high jump (6-1) and pole vault (16-0) for Winamac, which also had its 4×800 relay (8:52.11), 4×400 (3:36.79) and Brody Brumm’s 110 hurdles win at 15.71, plus a host of top-threes to build its title claim. Both of Williamson’s efforts set new conference standards.
Triton had just a few names make the scoring list. Nate Riggins had the best Triton showing on the day, clearing 10-0 in pole vault to finish third. Malachi Greene was sixth in the 200 at 24.81, Rusty Reichard was sixth in the 3,200 (11:37.02), and the relays all qualified. The 4×800 was seventh at 9:38.17, the 4×100 was eighth at 48.65, and the 4×400 was fifth at 3:58.04.
In all, 14 of the 16 events run Thursday set new conference standards in the second year of the HNAC meet.
