Wawasee Tennis: Plymouth Smooth In Victory
SYRACUSE – The Northern Lakes Conference girls tennis regular season wrapped up for Wawasee Monday evening, and it didn’t go as hoped for the Lady Warriors in a 5-0 loss to Plymouth.
Singles play for Plymouth was rock solid, led by a love, love sweep from Lanae Singleton over Meg Heinisch at No. 1. Erin Hunter and Ashley Harrell lost just five games in a three and love Hunter win against Peyton Rookstool and a one and one win by Harrell over Elizabeth Kleopfer.
Doubles were just as effective for Plymouth. Kendall Dreibelbis and McKenzie Scheetz won three and two against Kabrea Rostochak and Kendra Doerr and Cortni Cook and Leah Smith rolled one and love over Courtney Larson and Taylor Mock.
Plymouth moves to 6-1 and in command of the conference heading into the NLC Championships beginning Wednesday. Wawasee sits at 2-5 overall going into the tourney, which is Wednesday through Friday all at Warsaw.
Plymouth won eight of the 11 courts played in JV matches. Wawasee winners included Brianna Haessig and Ashley Rose at singles and the duo of Brianna Haessig and Valerie Haessig in doubles play.
