Baseball
Whitko had the offense working well Saturday in a doubleheader sweep of Southern Wells on the diamond in South Whitley.
Whitko won game one 16-2, led by Alex Robbins’ four RBIs and three more driven in by Zach Hewitt. Colin Craig added two hits and two runs scored and Austin Hollowell had two hits and two RBIs.
Zach Morris held Southern Wells to seven hits and one walk over five innings, striking out four.
In game two, Whitko came back to dime Southern Wells again, 13-3. Austin Hollowell allowed five hits and two earned runs with six Ks for the win.
Drew Bradford and Alex Bechtold each had three hits and combined for four runs scored and a pair of RBIs.
Whitko moves to 16-3 overall with a doubleheader on Monday at Wabash.
Girls Tennis
Whitko finished fifth at Saturday’s Angola Invite.
Jackie Werstler led Whitko with a runner-up finish at three singles, collecting wins over Dwenger and Norwell before succumbing to Fort Wayne Carroll in the final.
Morgan Keirn and Delaney Keirn both landed in fourth place at one and two singles, respectively. Morgan defeated Angola before falling to Norwell and Blackhawk Christian. Delaney defeated Snider before falling short against Carroll and Blackhawk Christian.
The Lady Wildcats begin a stretch of five straight matches on Monday at home against Wayne starting at 5:30 p.m.
