Boys Golf
NorthWood claimed the team title at the Concord Golf Invite Saturday afternoon, and had the top golfer among the lot.
The Panthers shot a 333 to edge both Culver Academy and Northridge’s 338s in a field of largely sectional and regional contenders. NorthWood’s Caleb Lung shot a 76 to earn medalist honors from the tournament, three shots better than Fairfield’s Anson Mullet and Northridge’s Luke Morrison. CMA’s Kirby Hart shot an 80 and Brendin Green of Concord had an 82 to round out the top five individuals.
Panther scores from the tournament included Sean Hogan’s 83, Randy Kauffman’s 85, Jacob Falk’s 89 and Nick Sherk’s 92.

Softball
NorthWood rallied with a win in the second game of its NorthWood Softball Invite, salvaging a split of its two games.
Fremont shut out NorthWood, 2-0, in the first game behind a five-hitter from Autumn Godwin. The Fremont hurler had 13 strikeouts and used a two-run homer from Lexus Lyon as the only offense she needed.
Summer Stillson walked about doubled to lead the Panther offense.
Gracie Clark pitched well, giving up five hits and struck out seven in the loss.
In game two, NorthWood rebounded with a 14-0 win over Elkhart Christian.
Alexis Klotz tossed a two-hitter for the Panthers, walking none and fanning five. Klotz added two hits and three RBIs at the dish, and Stillson tripled and scored four runs among the offense.
Fremont won its other game in the group, beating ECA 8-0. Baleigh Weidenhamer fired a two-hitter and struck out seven in the gem.
NorthWood moves to 8-10 overall and will host Wawasee Monday.
