Warsaw Community Career Center Events

WARSAW — Many of the following events are scheduled during Goodwill Industries Week, held this year from May 7 through May 13.  It is celebrated annually in May by Goodwill Agencies throughout the country to bring awareness to the programs and services that Goodwill offers. Locally, our mission is to strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.

All Career Center events are free and available to the public. They are located at the Community Career enter adjacent to the Goodwill Store at 751 Anchorage Point Drive, Warsaw. Homeless Shelter Food Drive

Monday, May 8 – Friday, May 12 / 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please drop off donations at the Career Center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. thru the above dates.

Food needed: canned fruit (pears, peaches, apricots), cream cheese, pudding cups, Jell-O cups, black pepper, powered sugar, canned corn, plain black tea bags, sweetener packages, single serve V8 juice, single serve beverages (water, Gatorade, juice, tea). Nonfood needed: snack size zip bags, pillow cases, twin sheets, diaper genie bags, sun screen, aloe lotion, Chap Stick. Additional items will be accepted.

Tool Kit for Success

Monday, May 8 / 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Tool Kit for Success is a prep session to provide you with essential tools and information to secure employment. The event tool kit will provide clothing options, interview tips and mock interview sessions, a flash drive, personalized job leads, hands on personalized resumes, hygiene tips and items.

Hot Jobs in Warsaw

Tuesday, May 9 / 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Come to the Career Center on May 9 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to learn what jobs are in the most demand right now and how to get them.  We’ll show you how to apply and prepare for success once you land the job. You’ll also find out what the salary ranges are for some of the better paying positions, and how to obtain free training and certifications.

Job Fair

Wednesday, May 10 / Noon to 2 p.m.

A job fair will take place at the Goodwill Career Center on May 10 from noon to 2 p.m. Companies participating are: Maple Leaf Farms, Cardinal Services, Kimco Services, Ivy Tech Community College, Texmo Precision Castings, and KGP Logistics.  Many of these companies will be testing and hiring on the spot that day.  There may be additional companies attending as well. Please dress professionally and arrive prepared to interview.  These companies have immediate openings!

Finding Childcare

Thursday, May 11 / 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Need childcare? This session will provide local childcare options, finance information and assistance.  You’ll also receive a packet with resources that will point you in the right direction to get the best childcare services for your family.

Exploring Your Career Needs

Friday, May 12 / Noon to 2 p.m.

Find out what career path best suites you, and the type of environment that excites you! This workshop focuses on your individual career needs and desires.  You’ll learn what the income potential is for your field of interest and how to find / keep the job. Let’s us help you explore! A free snack will be provided.

Veterans Employment Services Wednesday, May 17 / 10 a.m. to Noon

Daniel Reed from WorkOne will be at the Goodwill Career Center to provide information to veterans about services in the local area. Veterans can also receive one-on-one employment help, employer resources, information on benefits and contacts for further assistance. All vets are welcome!

Getting To Know Microsoft Office

  • Tuesday, May 23 / 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 25 / 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Find out how to access Microsoft Excel, locate the ribbon and learn it’s tools and functions. This workshop series is designed to get people comfortable with the look and physical features of Microsoft Office most powerful tool. Those who are looking for broader Microsoft Excel assistance, we’ll customize the workshop to their skill levels.  We’ll also have a quiz available for those who want to test their knowledge.
