Tippecanoe Valley earned a quality road win on the golf course Wednesday, beating Wawasee 174-178 at South Shore.
Jeremy Julian led the Vikings and everyone else with a steady medalist round of 36, the only person to break 40 in the dual. Valley went 45-46-47 from its trio of Cade Brouyette, John Young and Chris Schipper.
Wawasee had a 41 from Zach Leedy and a 43 from Dillon Drake, but fell back with a 46 from Cameron Brill and 48 from Evan Dippon.
The JV circuit had the Warriors top the Vikings 215-228. Kobe Jones led Wawasee with a 44 and Wyatt Hall shot a 51 for the Vikes.
Valley improves to 5-2 overall and will compete this Saturday at the LaVille Invite at Woodbury in Plymouth. Wawasee (4-2) will take on the field at Saturday’s Concord Invite at Bent Oak.
Softball
Ally Betten played the hero Wednesday for the Viking softball, drilling a two-run, walk-off homer to give Valley a 6-4 win over Northfield in a Three Rivers Conference tilt in Akron.
Kayla Scott led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, which set up Betten to take Ally Keaffaber deep, the second game in a row the sophomore has homered.
Shelby Ward had given Northfield a 4-2 lead after an RBI single in the six, only for Valley to rally with two in the bottom of the inning. Kaitlin Shepherd scored on a tagup of a foul ball to left field, and Kirstyn Yoder knocked in the tying run with a single on batter later. Yoder had three hits to lead Valley while Ward and Michelle Hunt had three hits apiece for the Norse.
Valley moves to 7-10 overall and 3-2 in the TRC with the victory. The Lady Vikes are scheduled to visit Argos Thursday afternoon.
