Girls Track
The Warsaw girls track team wrapped up another undefeated regular season run in the Northern Lakes Conference.
The Tigers topped host Plymouth 72-60 in the league finale Tuesday night.
Warsaw, which improves to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the NLC, won seven events on the night. The Warsaw girls track program has now won 60 straight conference regular-season meets in a row.
The trio of Dayton Groninger, Anna Craig and Mia Beckham were all individual winners on the track for the conference champions. Groninger won the 800 in a top time of 2:26, while Craig took the top spot in the 1,600 in 5:31 and Beckham won the 3,200 in 11:54.
The Tigers won a pair of relay events on the evening. The 4 X 100 team of Shunterra Davis, Maygan Bellamy, Abbi Curtis and Makayla Clampitt won in 51.09. The 4 X 800 team of Allison Miller, Mallory Hooks and Beckham won in 10:20.56.
Warsaw won a pair of field events. Alexie Day cleared 5-2 to win the high jump and Caitlin Kehler went 9-6 to take first in the pole vault.
Warsaw will host the NLC meet on May 9.
Golf
The Warsaw boys golf team was runner-up in its own Joe Harris Shootout.
The Tigers finished with a team total of 313 in the annual event played at the Rozella Ford Golf Course.
Fort Wayne Canterbury captured the team title with a 298 in the nine-team field. Plymouth took third place with a 317.
Tim Rata fired a round of 75 to lead the way for the Tigers. Sam Yeager carded a round of 78 and Tommy Meier a 79 for the hosts. Luke Delp shot an 81 and Luke Johnson carded an 83 for the Tigers.
Michael Brothers of Canterbury was individual medalist with a one-under par round of 69.
The Warsaw junior varsity team was impressive as they shot a 344 to finish in sixth place. Jacob LaLonde led Warsaw with a 78. Chase Byron had an 81, while Zach LaLonde shot an 85. Cole Voss fired a 100 and Lucas Rhodes a 104 for the JV Tigers.
NorthWood finished in fourth place with a team score of 320. Caleb Lung led the Panthers with a 77. Sean Hogan fired an 80, while Jacob Falk shot 81, Nick Sherk 82 and Randy Kauffman 84 for NorthWood.
Wawasee placed eighth with a 356. Zach Leedy led the Warriors with an 80. Dillon Drake shot an 87, while Evan Dippon had a 93, Cameron Brill 96 and Jared Krugman 104 for Wawasee.
Triton was ninth with a team total of 362. Beau Hepler led the way for the Trojans with an 86, Ross Johnson shot a 91, Braden Kreft 92, Isaac Wall 93 and Chase Butler 96 for Triton.
Warsaw hosts Wawasee and Goshen in conference play May 9 at Stonehenge. NorthWood will compete in the Concord Invitational on Saturday at the Bent Oak Golf Club in Elkhart.
Baseball
The Warsaw baseball team dropped an 11-0 final to Elkhart Memorial.
The host Tigers were outhit 18-4 in the Northern Lakes Conference game, which was rescheduled from Monday. The contest was scoreless through the first four innings before the Chargers got going.
Jordan Jones took the pitching loss for the Tigers. Matt Kloss earned the win for Memorial.
Brett Wilson and Sam Wruble each had two doubles and drove in four runs apiece for Memorial.
The Warsaw junior varsity team beat Memorial 14-3. Aric Krallman had a huge night with a pair of home runs and four RBI to pace the winners. Ian Glogovsky had three hits and two RBI and Noah Burgh and Gage Lyon each had two hits and two RBI for Warsaw. Matt Shoemaker picked up the pitching win as the Tigers improved to 10-5.
Warsaw, now 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the NLC, hosts Wawasee in a league game Wednesday.
