Mary D. Ettinger — UPDATED
Mary D. Ettinger, 88, Warsaw, passed away Sunday April 30, 2017 at 10:10 p.m. at Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born on Oct. 22, 1928 to Wilby Bruce and Margaret Nell (Floyd) Nichols in Beaver Township, Pulaski County, Indiana.
She graduated from Pulaski High School, a BA from Manchester College and a MS from St. Francis College.
She was a past president of Zerelda Reading Club and Kosciusko County Historical Society. She was a Board and Charter member of the Kosciusko County Historical Society and a member of the IRTA, Lakeland Community Concerts, First United Methodist Church, Senior Saints, United Methodist Women, Bible School Director, Stephen Ministries, AAUW and was a past DAR Regent. She also volunteered for KCH mobile meals, Genealogy Library, CASA and the Warsaw Public Library. Mary also was an author of several Genealogy books. In 2013 she was named “Warsaw Woman of the Year”.
Mary was a retired art instructor for 29 years in the Warsaw Community Schools. She enjoyed family, volunteering, traveling, bridge and cross stitching.
Mary is survived by her four children: Martha Jane (spouse David) Tibbets of Elkhart, Betty Jo Thompson of Mentone; Nancy Ann (Brian) Tonks of Rigby, Idaho; and John William (spouse Debbie) Ettinger of Warsaw. Twelve grandchildren, Steven (spouse Julie) Tibbets, Julia Tibbets, Laura Tibbets, Kyle (spouse Kari) Thompson, Cale (spouse Beth) Thompson, Paul (spouse Kellie) Tonks, Nathan (spouse Emily) Tonks, Joseph Tonks, Lydia (spouse Tyler) Whitworth, Dylan Ettinger, Miranda Ettinger and Marcella Ettinger. Fifteen great grandchildren: Timothy Schlosser, Timothy Tonks, Ian, Isaac, Mercedes, Makenzie, Rylee, Madison and Carter Thompson, Addison, Clark, Kaylee and Emma Whitworth, Zachary and Vera Rose Tibbets. She is preceded by her parents, three sisters,one brother and a son in law Duane Thompson (April 26, 2017)
Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday May 4, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
