Baseball
The Whitko baseball team suffered a tough loss Monday evening. The Wildcats dropped a Three Rivers Conference contest to Northfield 1-0.
The Norse got an RBI from Sam Burcoff in the top of the third to score the game’s only run. Northfield’s Blake Harner stole the show for the visiting team, going seven innings and tossing a no-hitter in the process while tallying 10 strikeouts.
Alex Robbins pitched all seven innings for Whitko, giving up six hits and no earned runs.
Whitko falls to 2-2 in the TRC and 13-3 overall. Northfield improves to 2-2 in league plays and 5-7 overall. The Wildcats host Manchester Wednesday night.
Tennis
The Whitko tennis team defeated conference rival Southwood 3-2 Monday night. Morgan Keirn was a winner at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-3 while Delaney Keirn won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0. Jackie Werstler helped the ‘Cats sweep the singles courts and get the win with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
The junior varsity fell to the Knights, the only victory coming from Natalie Iholtz at No. 1 singles.
The Wildcats are back in action Tuesday at Manchester starting at 5 p.m.
