Lloyd E. Montz, 100, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Community Northview Care Center, Anderson.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1916 in Whitley County a son of the late Clarence and Susie (Bentz) Montz. He grew up in Washington Township and graduated from Washington Center High School.
On March 21, 1937 he married Kathryn M. Bolinger. They made their home on a farm in Washington Township until 1976 when they retired to Cherokee Village, Arkansas. In 2003 they returned to Columbia City. Mrs. Montz died March 25, 2006.
He was a career long farmer. In his retirement he became a Master Gardener. When not gardening he could be found chopping wood or doing yard work.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Harris, Placentia, Calif. and Lorraine (Gary) Keith; a son, Nelson Montz, Anderson; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a foster child, James Ray and a sister, Lucille Gipson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday May 20 at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the service. Burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery.
