Valley Sports Wrap: April 26
Baseball
Tanner Trippiedi played the hero role Wednesday night for the Valley nine as he hit a walk-off single, bringing home Alec Craig to to slip by Maconaquah 3-2.
Craig had led off the inning with a triple, setting Trippiedi for the game-winning base hit. Craig’s triple was the only extra base hit of the night for the Vikings. Trippiedi and Craig had four of the team’s six hits. Adam Myers got the win on the mound, throwing all seven innings while recording seven strikeouts.
Valley (5-4, 2-1) hosts John Glenn for a double header this Saturday.
Softball
The softball team enjoyed similar heroics Wednesday night as Sydney Howard smacked a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to cap a seven-run frame to get by Maconaquah 10-9.
Howard finished the game 2-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Mia Gunnels was 3-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Kirstyn Yoder also had two RBIs. Kayla Scott got the win in the circle with four and one-third innings of work.
Valley (5-9, 1-2) hosts Concordia Saturday morning.
Tennis
Valley’s tennis squad fell 3-2 to John Glenn Wednesday night.
