Shirley A. Watrous
Shirley A. (Vanata) Watrous, 75, Plymouth, died at 10:40 a.m. April 25, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, where she had been in declining health over the past couple of years.
She was born on May 26, 1941 in Rochester to Loftlee B. Vanata and Violet D. (Milliser) Vanata and had lived all of her life in the Marshall and Fulton County area.
In July 1961 she married Roger Thayer, they later divorced. She then married Emory D. Watrous on Sept. 23, 2012 in Argos, Indiana. Emory preceded her on Feb. 20, 2016. Shirley was a homemaker and housewife and had worked at Ristance Corp. in Argos. Later she ran Shirley’s Day Care in Rochester. She was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1959, and a past member of the Walnut Ruralettes Home Ec. Club.
Shirley is survived by her sons: Todd A. Thayer and wife Tawnya of Argos; Tracy Thayer and wife Marilyn of Argos;
daughter: Janelle Thayer and partner Sherri Walker of Indianapolis; three grandchildren: Michael Thayer and wife Ashley of Argos; Tucker Thayer and wife Alyssa of Argos; and Brooke Kraemer and husband Cody of Clay City; two great grandchildren: Kyndra Thayer and Duncan Thayer; sister: Joyce Thomas and husband Pat of Etna Green; brother-in-Law: Loren Voreis of Culver.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Bonnie Voreis
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p..m. Friday, April 28 at Earl-Grossman Funeral home in Argos. The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, also at the home. Reverend Robert E. Rice Jr. of Walnut Church of the Brethren will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
