Grace Golf: Lancers End Season At Crossroads
FORT WAYNE – The 2016-17 season for Grace’s men’s golf team came to a close on Tuesday at the Crossroads League Championships.
The Lancers placed seventh out of nine teams in the tournament, held at Pine Valley Golf Course. Grace shot fairly consistent across the two-day, three-round tournament, producing a 315-319-324.
Jonathan Schram finished 14th on the individual leaderboard out of 45 golfers. He was the team’s steadiest performer in the tournament, carding a pair of 76s on Friday and ending the tournament with a 75 on Saturday.
Tristan Nienhuis showed improvement in every round. After shooting an opening-round 80, he dropped a stroke in each successive round to finish with a 79-78.
Tyler Ham’s tournament was highlighted by an 80 in his first round on Friday, ending the tournament with a 247. Chad Spencer finished one stroke behind Ham at 248, including a 79 in his opening round.
Max Leary rounded out the team’s scoring, playing as a freshman in his first league championship. He produced a scoreline of 85-86-87.
The tournament officially ends the careers of Grace seniors Schram, Ham and Zachary Allyn.
