Warsaw Sports Wrap: April 22
Golf
The Warsaw boys golf team placed 12th out of 17 teams in the Lake Central Invitational Saturday.
The Tigers shot a 363 in the event. Penn captured the team title with a 334.
Sam Yeager led the way for Warsaw with a round of 83 to tie for 19th place among individuals.
Luke Delp finished with an 87 for Warsaw with Jacob LaLonde at 96, Tim Rata at 97 and Rob Sullivan at 104. Luke Johnson also took part and shot a 90 for the Tigers.
It was a pretty good day for the Warsaw junior varsity team at the Pretty Lakes Golf Course.
The JV Tigers, led by Zach LaLonde, shot a 352 to claim top team honors among 15 teams in the Plymouth JV Invitational.
LaLonde fired an 81 to earn low medalist honors for the tournament.
Tommy Meier was second overall with an 85 for the Tigers. Chase Byron finished with a 90, Lucas Rhoades 96 and Noah Pequignot 114 for the champions.
Warsaw hosts Triton at Stonehenge on Wednesday.
Baseball
The Warsaw baseball team dropped a twin bill at undefeated Kokomo Saturday.
The hosts took the first game by a 6-2 final. Bryce Sensibaugh and Liam Patton led the Warsaw offense with two hits each. Braxton Tennant had two RBI and took the pitching loss for the Tigers.
Kokomo scored a run in their final at bat to take the second game by a 4-3 final. Matt Francis was 2-3 with two RBI for the Tigers, including tying the game in the sixth inning with an RBI single. Tennant was 3-4 with a double. Francis pitched a complete game.
Warsaw drops to 4-7 overall on the season. The Tigers play at NorthWood in a Northern Lakes Conference game on Monday evening.
The Warsaw junior varsity team lost a pair, 10-0 and 6-2, at Carroll Saturday.
Drake Graham had two hits in the opener for the Tigers. Graham also took the pitching loss. Ian Glogovsky had two hits and an RBI in game two. Jacob Hutcherson took the pitching loss.
Warsaw, now 5-6, will play at NorthWood Monday.
Track
The Southport Relays, which the Warsaw boys and girls teams were slated to take part in, were cancelled due to inclement weather Saturday.
The Warsaw boys track team, which is 3-1 overall and 3-0 in league action, returns to competition by hosting Concord and Goshen in a Northern Lakes Conference triangular Wednesday night.
The Warsaw girls track team will face host Wawasee and NorthWood in NLC action Tuesday night. The ladies team is 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the NLC.
