NORTH WEBSTER — As the snowbirds return to their summer roosts, North Webster Community Public Library invites them to fly in and get involved in all the library has to offer. The library is more than just books; it is a center for social interaction and learning with programs and activities for all ages, interests and lifestyles.
Next week starts with adult coloring 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 2. If you enjoy this relaxing activity, then come, color and chat. The library provides the coloring sheets and gel pens or bring your own. Later that day at 4 p.m. the kids are invited for crafts and stories to listen to stories while creating a fun craft.
Let’s move starts 6 p.m. Thursday, May 4 and will be held weekly May through September. Let’s move is an informal dancing-for-fitness session. Participants have fun dancing to a variety of music, learning new dance steps, freestyle dancing and getting a great workout.
In addition to these activities, the library offers two reading clubs – READ book club selects a specific book each month to read and discuss while the voyager book club allows members to read and discuss any book of their choice within a certain genre. Foodies will enjoy participating in revolving recipe round up when each month participants get together to share a dish they have prepared along with its recipe. Writer’s corner enables budding writers to share ideas and develop their talents. The Local History and Genealogy Center offers a wealth of resources, as well as classes, to assist those searching for their ancestral roots. In addition, a variety of special programs and events are scheduled each month.
The youth services department is gearing up for the summer reading program that starts June 1. Throughout June and July, kids can earn prizes for reading along with attending entertaining shows and fun activities each week.
